Missing key personnel, Nuthurst were delighted to have reduced the home side to 36 - 5. Jonty Greenwood was first to strike, taking the prized wicket of Andy Petch, caught in the slips by one of The Nutters two debutantes, William Ross without scoring. Berriman smashed two boundaries off of Rob Keane, before holing out to Bob Samways for 8. Keane was unlucky not to collect a second wicket, when a rare mishap in the field from McKenna, saw a simple chance put down. Greenwood soon struck again, with this time McKenna making amends, to catch Lipscomb.
The Trinity Skipper, Ben Chappells, must have regretted loaning fielder Dan Whittick. Whittick knocked over the stumps to run out O'Neill and later took a fine running catch. Chappells himself, was caught by Willis as Greenwood snaffled his third wicket in quick succession.
So plain sailing until Cox and T. Chappels joined the fray. Some mighty hitting ensued, resulting in each of the Nuthurst Bowlers taking their share of the mauling, as the Trinity pair blazed a trail in the afternoon sun, peppering the short straight boundaries with regular ease. Chappells skied one to guest fielder, Whittick, off the bowling of Bob Weston, having blasted a quick fire 21.
There was little or no respite when Donnelly joined Cox in the middle, as the pair continued to slay the bowling attack in the same vein. Weston and Greenwood both failed to cling on to searing straight drives off of their own bowling, which was more about self preservation than dropped chances. Donnelly raced to 57 before Willis took the catch, having shared a partnership of 140. Jeremy James toiled away for ten overs and got his just reward, when Keeper Ekins stumped the mercurial Cox on 95. Whittick completed a good all round performance, making 23 n.o. Greenwood 10 - 3 - 4 - 59 was the most successful bowler and William Ross bowled a tidy 4 over spell in his first stint as a Nutter. At tea Trinity had made a very creditable 235.

Ekins was bowled by Rousseau for 8 early in the Nuthurst reply, before Jonny Willis and Bob Samways steadied the ship and took the score to 108 for the second wicket. Samways was bowled by Ben Chappells for 23 and Willis followed on 119 having just made his 50. In at no 4, Buzz McKenna looked completely out of sorts. To add to his woes, an injury required the presence of a Runner. David Thompson skied to mid off, but McKenna recovered well and began timing the ball with his usual aplomb. The late middle order were skittled out, going for their shots, bringing Ross to the crease. He made 8 and McKenna remained not out on 32.
Rousseau was pick of the seven bowlers used with figures of 12-2-3-35 as Nuthurst creaked up to 174 - 8 for a noble draw, on a day that most of the bowlers would prefer to forget. Nuthurst were delighted to blood two new players, Ben Hewson and William Ross. There were also subversive attempts to sign up Daniel Whittick, who had made a fine contribution to the Nuthurst fielding.
