Sparkling fifties see Nuthurst home

With a slightly damp pitch and taking groundsman advice Guy Ekins invited the Weekenders to bat first.
In response to fine opening spells from Graham Prior (1 for 26) and Rob Keen (0 for 30), the visitors were kept to under 60 runs at the drinks interval after 20 overs. After drinks, Adam Williams (1 for 24) and Bob Weston (1 for 29) kept up the pressure as the visitors continued to be cautious with their run scoring. Jeremy James (1 for 13) and Jordan Crow (0 for 24) had the unenviable task of taking game to tea at which point Nuthurst were left with 167 runs to win the match.
Tea was a grand affair and our thanks go to Eileen and her daughter for providing a special tea.
Guy Ekins (18) and Keith Greenwood (14) put on 30 runs before Guy played on. Keith was then caught behind with the score on 35. David Thompson (22) then joined Raggy Singh (57 no) at the crease and maintained the required run rate scoring 66 in their partnership before David was bowled in the 25th over. Will Rossiter came in and after a shaky start obviously decided the time had come to "pounce". In less than four overs Will took the score from 113 to 167, his highlight being the 22 runs he scored off the returning opening bowler who had till then bowled 8 overs for 23 runs! It was noted that Raggy helped Will to his 50 after securing his own by scoring singles in the last few overs.
