TC Weston's quill and ink has been hard at work once again folks! Enjoy.

With only 9 men available, Smallfield were loaned The Nutter’s fine acquisition, Charlie South for this match. There were also debuts for David Butcher and Ben Rymarsh, along with Myles Todman as 12th man.

Winning the toss, Skipper, Samways elected to field. Greenwood made early inroads, trapping a bemused Ravi , ajudged LBW for 6 and bowling Jejan for 8. Rob Keane bowled a lively spell, but it was that wily old rascal Jeremy James who bowled the next three batsmen in quick succession. Raj had made 30 and Smallfield were reduced to 54-5.

South (33) entered the fray and shared a fine partnership with talented allrounder Vekash (44) . Both batsmen suffered the same fate, caught Samways, bowled Greenwood, taking his tally to 4 wickets. Weston & Singh both turned their arm over, but to little affect.

Smallfield innings closed on 140 all out. We believe that as Mrs South made the halftime feast, that this was the first time that tea was ever prepared for a home game, by a member of the away side?

Singh & Willis were sent out to redress the balance. Having struck the first delivery for a solid 2, Singh was on his way back to the pavilion after the next delivery, which was an absolute snorter.

Willis and Samways (40 Not Out) then worked their way through to a partnership of 47 against some very decent bowling, particularly from Vikash, whose figures of 9-3-20-1 failed to show the true impact of his performance. Willis (31) played early to a delivery from Karag, which resulted in his stump being cartwheeled out of the wicket.

Ekins played with his usual panache, top scoring for The Nutters with 49 before a gleeful South stumped him. Butcher, more used to playing on a concrete track in Dubai made 2 before becoming the second victim of Raj. Ben Rymarsh was promoted up the order and hit the winning runs in his 7 not out.

In a true sporting gesture, Samways retired and the gentlemen of Smallfield continued playing to allow the opportunity for Myles Todman and Rymarsh to bat out a couple of overs on their full Nuthurst debuts for the senior team.
