Enjoy Bob Weston's summary of the exciting match versus Rudgwick! Well done the Nutters!

Another virtuoso all round performance from Raggi, set up another home win for The Nutters on Sunday.

With regular Captain Bob Samways out of action with a pulled fetlock, the leadership baton was passed to Guy Ekins. Guy promptly loss the toss and Nuthurst were put into bat.

Jonny Willis attacked from the outset, ably supported by Keith Greenwood (21). The opening pair put on a solid 61 before Greenwood was caught by J Page of the spin of Driver. In at 3, David Thomson was in no mood to hang about and he swatted his way to 11 before being caught by Callaghan for Driver’s second wicket. Charlie South was elevated to No 4 made 7 before being bowled by Summer. Willis (62) went the same way after another great knock, followed by Ollie Prior (0), both bowled by Summer.

So Nuthurst still had the luxury of Raggi Singh and Guy Ekins to bat. Raggi made an imperious 72 Not Out and never looked like getting out. Ekins whisked his way to 34 before being bowled by J Page, bringing Ben Hewson to the crease. Ben played some very nice strokes for his highest score for the Club, and was there at the end of the innings with 12 Not Out. Graham Prior, Bob Weston and Jeremy James could only look on in admiration and weren’t required to bat. The innings closed on 247-6.

Rudgewick lost an early wicket, when Prior (9-1-44-2) cleaned out Ross for a duck. Prior then performed acrobatics to clutch a parry from keeper, South as Crabbe nicked the ball behind off of the bowling of Greenwood.

D Page looked comfortable though, on his way to 42. Driver was caught and bowled by Prior for 29, as his busy afternoon continued. Having been pinged for two consecutive 4’s , Weston bowled a slower delivery, which caused Page to sky the ball to the waiting bucket hands of Jeremy James. Cummings played positive shots, until Weston yorked him for 13.

The Nutters bowlers toiled away, but needed wickets, to finish off the oppos. Enter Raggi, who tore through the lower order line up. His spell of 5-2-8-4 proved to be a match winning performance, with 4 overs to spare. James picked up the wicket of J Callaghan, caught by Jonny Willis. Ben Hewson bowled 2 memorable overs and David Thompson turned his arm over too. The visitors’ innings closed on 162 all out, with Clarke stranded on 10, not out.
