A return to the ground that carries mixed memories for Rahul, who was careful to ensure that he had no car to park!
Amberley decided to bat first, but were quickly undone by some inspired bowling from Jonty, reducing them to 3 wickets for 4 runs. A wicket from Alexander increased the pressure with another wicket leaving Amberley 9 for 4 wickets. Some resistance from the middle order saw a stand of 78 from Mitchell and Neave.
However as soon as Greenwood returned to the attack Amberleys’s batting crumbled, finishing on 123, with Jonty ending with figures of 7 for 7!
A solid opening partnership from Darren Williams and Rahul Jobanputra, saw us through to 49, when Darren fell for a watchful 12. Despite a small flurry of middle order wickets, which included Jobanputra having compiled an excellent 39, the target was well within Nuthurst’s reach finishing on 124 for 6.
It was nice to share a few beers with our oppo at their Black Horse, we look forward to welcoming Amberley at Mannings Heath next season.
