Club History
Nyetimber Pirates were formed in the early 1970s and enjoyed huge success as a youth side in the Bognor Area until its demise late in the decade , the club was reformed in the summer of 2010 and were entered into the Chichester and West Sussex Sunday Football League for its first season of adults football.
The side guided by manager Charlie Welling and led by captain Ted Griffin blasted its way onto the local football scene with an impressive side and a string of excellent results and went on to win a league and cup double in its first season losing only 2 games in the process.
2010/11 domestic success allowed the club to enter the Sunday FA cup in the following season, a competition which brought some excellent moments for the Looters before being knocked out by eventual winners Barnes Albion early in 2012.
Unable to match the success of 2010/11 and with the decline of Sunday Football a decision was made by the committee to make the move to Saturday football and the West Sussex Football League. Major signings followed for the Pirates who entered the competition at Division 3 south.
A fourth place finish was enough for promotion but the emergence of Phil Turner and James Fallick as attacking options helped show what the Pirates were capable of in years to come.
The arrival of a number of high profile ex county league players in 2013/14 coincided with the move to the New Pirate Park at Bognor Sports Club in a year which proved to be the best yet.
A County Cup & Charity Cup double topped off a near perfect season for the Pirates who narrowly missed out on the treble after cruelly missing out on the league title by 1 point. Promotion was gained again for the second season running but 2 solitary defeats to Stedham were enough to send the division two trophy to Midhurst.
The side was improved again for the 2014/15 as promotion to the Premier division was secured finishing runners up to winners Petworth. A Malcolm Simmonds cup final saw a penalty shoot out defeat to Predators meant a trophy less season for boss Welling who stepped down weeks into the 2015/16 season.
Ryan Pharo was the man to lead the Pirates into the Premier division but after an indifferent start he was replaced by former captain Ted Griffin who finished Pirates first season of the top of the WSFL pyramid with five straight wins .
2015/16 also saw the formation of the Pirates Reserves who impressed during their debut season with a fifth place finish in Div 3 south missing out on promotion by 2 points. Co Club founder Jamie Walter has taken over the reigns of the reserves and his side has gone from strength to strength since he took over from Ronnie Lerwy early in the season.
Phil Turner the Pirates most decorated captain also stepped down as captain after 4 seasons with the band and the mantle was handed to the returning Michael Frangou, one of Griffins marquee signings for the 2016/17,
