The visitors almost took an early lead when a Lamar Parkes lay off was fired goalward by Callum Armsden only for a deflection to turn the ball onto the post. Chenecks were ahead on seven minutes, a Calvin Budd free kick flicked on for Tom Caton to volley in at the back of the box. Lynas King had a free kick saved when the Poachers replied and a good move involving Parkes, Sam Burton and Armsden created an opening for Carlton Beardmore whose shot was narrowly wide.
Chenecks youngster Brandon Williams took a return pass from Ben Diamond to test Charlie Andrews in the visiting goal and the home lead was doubled on 23 minutes, a Budd free kick headed in by Diamond. That was the signal for Chenecks to pile on the pressure with Ash Stewart having a low shot saved and Diamond denied his second by Lewis McLean's goal line clearance. From the resulting corner taken by Stewart Diamond headed across goal and Andrews then saved a Budd free kick.
On resumption Ash Ogden was just too high from 25 yards and Diamond was off target with a header from a Budd dead ball delivery. The outcome was settled by a Chenecks third after 75 minutes, Adam Hancock taking a return pass from Diamond to fire past Andrews. Oadby squandered the chance of a stoppage time consolation, Burton shooting wide after Armsden played him clear.
