Despite heading into the match odds on favorites, Alvechurch better finishing set The Poachers tumbling out of the FA Vase.
The match was certainly a game of two halves. Oadby had the upper hand in the first half, with good play from the likes of Levi Porter and Country Meade resulting in greater possession, but Oadby were unable to convert this into goals.
Alvechurch made a breakthrough just before the half-time break and it seemed to change the game. The home side really came at Oadby and in the second half it looked like Oadby were going to struggle to get back into the game; and struggle they did.
The 'Church scored again on 66 minutes and 75 minutes which put the match completely out of reach from Oadby. A consolation last minute cross-bar rattler was the nearest The Poachers came to taking Alvechurch's clean sheet.
Congratulations to Alvechurch, who certainly played well and good luck to the team in the next round.
It was a nice little run in the cup, and Oadby can certainly look back and hold their heads high knocking out two Step 5 sides and can pay more attention to the much more important task of winning the league and securing Step 5 football on a weekly basis next season.
Well done to the travelling fans, whose support was certainly felt at the game - one of the joys of following Oadby.
