This month we're taking a trip down memory lane all the way back to October 2009 - when a landmark moment in Odsal's recent history took place - Daniel Dove scored a try!! The giant prop had taken a lot of flak over the years for his try-scoring dry spell, but finally ended his drought in a nine-try romp over local rivals Undercliffe Wildboars.

DOVEY SCORES A TRY!!!!! (against 12 men..)

After years of near misses and endless taunting, Dovey finally got over the whitewash – although he only managed to do it because Underlciffe only turned up with twelve men. The report could end here, as that was the stand out moment and nothing else needs to be said, but there was a lot of action before and after Daniel Dove's second half try.

There were two aims for Sedge today; to hold our discipline and to keep a clean sheet against a side who didn't have a full thirteen. The first half went exactly to plan throughout. The ball started rolling when in-form Adam Moffatt snaked past a few pairs of clasping hands to get over the line. Soon after Sedge swept the ball wide to utilise the constant overlap and Moffatt was agian on the end of it, unfortunatley he pulled his leg as he ran to the corner, but still managed to hop over the line before being replaced by Botsy for the rest of the match.

Flynny was the next to score down the slope, busting through weak tackles for a well worked try. Underlciffe kept powering on up the hill though and never capitulated like many other sides would have, however once Odsal breached that 20-point gap the game was gone from them. From a scrum 5 yards from Underlcliffe's try line Ste Suddards hit Jonny Ward on the blind side who managed to sprint to the corner and dive over in emphatic style. Right on half time Robert Priestley did what he does best; got the ball, danced around four or five tacklers, and somehow got over the line.

The second half started terribly as the visitors got the ball back from kick off and from the good field position crashed over the line to deny Sedge that elusive zero score. Then came the moment of the match. With the Wildboars tiring by the second Dovey exploited a gap in our own half to bust the line and surge upfield. He then hit Jonny who was supporting on the inside. He made more yards upfield and was tackled ten from the tryline. Following behind was Dovey who was right there to recive Sam Hall's pass from acting half and barge hard and low beneath the sticks, just managing to stretch out for his first try in a long long time!

There was a second wave from Odsal after this and Robert was soon on the scoresheet again as a volleyball style clearance on the 'Cliffe line fell happily into his hands and he couldn't miss in the corner. Flynny grabbed a second when he scooped up on an Undercliffe mistake from their own scrum and raced into the corner for a great individual effort.

Late on Grezza notched Sedji's ninth try of the day in what was a convincing display and means Sedbergh have only let in 14 points in our last two home games. Throughout the game Nick Chapman made the most of a rare start by constantly busting the line with drive after drive down the middle, and Ste Suddards had a particularlly good game in the middle, constantly creating gaps and hitting the forwards on the angle with inch-perfect solid passes. However the spotlight must stay on Dovey. Let's just wait for his recognition in the T&A this week...
