Half-Game Rule is Regulation
Regardless of age, gender, school or club, players repeatedly say that they want to play rugby with their friends and a feel a part of a team. The Half-Game Rule makes this happen.
Research into this approach by the University of Essex found that:
There was no impact on the end result of a game
Players who played half game were six times more likely to enjoy it than those who did not
It has plenty of support from coaches, referees and parents.
This is positive new for the game as frequent playing leads to increased enjoyment, ability and confidence. This then improves the likelihood of an increased intent to play when older.
