Cents started the defence of their Senior cup title when they proved to be to strong for a young and hard working Spartans side in the first round. This could have been a tricky tie for Cents and an up set might have been on the cards from a Spartans side having a great season being on the verge of promotion to the Western counties league.
However Cents applied them selves to the task in hand and with a dominant pack and speedy backs they never looked in any danger of losing this cup tie.As expected Spartans kept on going to the end showing why they are on the verge of promotion from the Glos Premier league into the Western Counties league.
Cents had the cup tie won by half time scoring four converted tries to lead 28-5 at the break and they had scored their tries through Joe Preece(2),Nathen Stroud plus Sol Farrer.Wayne Mulhern completed the Cents scoring with four conversions.
Cents went on to score a further three tries in the second half to wrap a competent victory 45-5 and their second half try scorers were Ryan Townsend(2) and Alex Cox with Wayne Mulhern converting one of the tries.
Cents reward for their cup win was a second round tie against Widden Old Boys away at the moment, however Widden are presently playing all this seasons cup ties away from home. This means the match could be switched to the Stade de Bridge and Widden beat Chosen Hill away in their first round match.
