BACKLINE ON FORM

CENTS CAME AWAY WITH A 5pt WIN BONUS BUT HAD TO WORK VERY HARD AGAINST TOUGH OPPOSITION KEYNSHAM TO STAY TOP OF WESTERN COUNTIES NORTH.
CENTS STARTED THE GAME GOING DOWN THE SLOPE AND TOOK THE LEAD WITH A CRAIG ANDERSON PENALTY FROM THE HALF WAY LINE, THEN NOT LONG AFTER AN EQUALLY GOOD KICK FROM KEYNSHAMS NO 10 TO MADE IT 3 A PIECE.
THERE WAS NOTHING BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES WITH MOST OF PLAY IN THE CENTER OF THE PITCH, BUT THEN FROM A LINEOUT AND A DRIVING MAUL THE BALL SPAN OUT TO THE FLYHALF WHO POPPED IT BACK INSIDE TO THE BLINDSIDE FLANKER WHO RAN STRAIGHT THROUGH A GAP TO SCORE UNDER THE POST WHICH WAS CONVERTED TO MAKE IT 10-3 TO THE VISTORS.
WITHIN 5 MINS AFTER THE RESTART CENTS CAME BACK AND WITH A FINE LONG PASS FROM ANDERSON TO DAVE KNIGHT WHO CUT THROUGH THE DEFENCE AND GOT 3M FROM THE LINE AND PASSED TO JOSH PETTIFER WHO FLICKED IT ON TO WINGER JOE PREECE WHO SCORED IN THE CORNER TO GIVE HIM 3 TRIES IN AS MANY GAMES.ANDERSON CONVERTED. SCORE 10-10
THE KEYNSHAM FORWARDS WERE A VERY SOLID UNIT AND HAD THE UPPER HAND IN THE SCRUMS AND THIER KICKING GAME WAS ALSO VERY GOOD. THEIR FLYHALF SLOTTED ANOTHER FINE PENALTY FROM JUST OUTSIDE THE 10M LINE TO MAKE THE SCORE 10-13.
WITH CENTS LINEOUTS NOT FUNCTIONING WELL THEY HAD TO WORK HARD TO KEEP HOLD OF THE BALL AND IN DOING SO THEY SET THE BACKLINE AWAY AGAIN WITH A SLICK TIMED PASS FROM KNIGHT TO FULLBACK PETTIFER WHO OUTPACED THE DEFENCE TO DRAW HIS MAN AND PUT ROB PINKNEY IN WHO STUMBLED PAST HIS MAN TO SCORE IN THE CORNER, SCORE NOW 15 - 13 TO CENTS.
FOR THE REMIANDER OF THE HALF LIAM HEMMING PINNED KEYNSHAM IN THERE OWN HALF AND KNIGHT WAS BREAKING THROUGH NUMEROUS TIMES WITH LAST DITCH TACKLES KEEPING US FROM SCORING ENDING THE HALF 15-13.
THE SECOND HALF STARTED WELL FOR KEYNSHAM WHO WERE CAMPED ON CENTS LINE AND WITH SCRUMHALF ALEX MATHERS SENT TO THE BIN FOR an INFRINGEMENT CENTS WERE DOWN TO 14 MEN AND WRONGLY CHOSE TO HAVE A 7 MAN SCRUM WITH A SCRUMHALF BUT KEYNSHAM DROVE THEM OVER THE LINE TO SCORE AND CONVERTED TO MAKE IT 20-15.
CENTS THEN RAN BACK AT THEM WITH KNIGHT GETTING TACKLED ON THE LINE TO POP IT UP TO PETE WILLETS WHO GATHERED AND TOUCH DOWN, ANDERSON UNDER PRESSURE KICKED THE CONVERSION FROM THE TOUCHLINE, SCORE 22-20. KEYNSHAM THEN REPLIED WITH A PENALTY TO TAKE THE LEAD 23-22, THEN ANDERSON HAD A PENALTY IN FRONT OF THE POST TO MAKE IT 25-23, THE GAME WAS NOW GETTING FIERCE AND A FEW FLAIR UPS Were HAPPENING AND KEYNSHAMS DISCIPLINE DROPPED, THEN ON THE 80TH MINUTE FROM A KEYNSHAM CROSSFIELD KICK RICH PINKEY CAUGHT IT ON THE BOUNCE AND SCORED IN THE CORNER TO GIVE CENTS THE BONUS POINT AND ANDERSON CONVERTED TO MAKE THE FINAL SCORE 32-22.THE MAN OF THE MATCH WENT TO DAVE KNIGHT FOR BEING A CONTINUEOUS THREAT.
COACH JACK PREECE SAID "I WAS DISAPOINTED WITH OUR SET PIECE BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN GOING WELL IN TRAINING AND OUR FORWARDS WERE NOT INTENSE OR COMMITTED ENOUGH AS THEY CAN BE APART FROM JOHN HUXTABLE WHO HAD A EXCELLENT GAME AND SEEMED TO BE IN TWO PLACES AT THE SAME TIME.BUT PLEASED WE CAME AWAY WITH 5pts NOT PLAYING TO OUR POTENTIAL".
