Cents travelled to Gordon League and came away with a comfortable win over a Gordon League side who took the game to Old Cents in the final quarter.
Playing down the slope in the first half Cents built up 24-0 half time lead through tries by Lewis May(2),Rob Pinkney and Michael Mumford.Liam Hemming converted 2 of the tries and at this stage Cents were well on top and should have had more as they were well in control.
The second half started with the League starting to fight back with an unconverted try not long after the restart. The League fight back was short lived as Cents made sure of their victory when the scored two unconverted tries going into the final quater.Cents scored their tries through John Huxtable and Michael Mumfords second of the match. The away side now lead 34-5 and they could afford to relax when they took off two of their back row and replaced one of the front row.
League who never gave up came back at Cents in the final quarter when they scored two unconverted tries.Cents played the final 10 mins with 14 men when after using all their replacements to give players match time, they then had a player injured.
Lewis May was Cents man of the match for a good all round diplay both in attack and defence.Howerver, this was a disjointed affair esprecially in the second half and Cents will have to step up another level for wednesday's senior cup semi-final against Hucclecote. On paper Cents should win,but cup games are all about what happens on the day and we should not be compacent.
