Cents travelled to Reading on Saturday and came away with win in a workman like performance for the first league match of the season. There was an element of lack of proper match fitness but Cents were certainly a lot fitter than their hosts in the last quarter of the match and Coach Jack will have a lot to work on this week for the visit of Reading Abbey to the Stade de Bridge on Saturday.
Cents were also missing five first team players from Saturday's match and they will be in contention for this weeks home match, players missing were Prop and Club Capt Scott Fritchley,Full back Lewis May,Top try scorer Sam Smith, second row Alex Walters and flanker Michael Mathers.
The score in the match was 3-3 at Half time and Reading led 11-3 during the opening stages of the second half. However in the last 30 mins of the game Cents came back strongly and blew Reading away. The fight back was built on a dominant set piece and Cents finally putting together some good handling movements.
Cents also managed during the match to waste numerous try scoring moments through poor execution, something they will have to work on if they are to be promotion hopefuls.
Cents points were scored by Rich Pinkney two tries Niall Gibbons one try and Harry Preece kicked 2 penalties plus one conversion.
For Cents the pack played well with Rob Jones looking dangerous in attack.
Cents now move on to next weeks home match against promotion winning Reading Abbey who Cents have never played against.
