Cents today produced a stunning come back to overcome a 3-17 half time deficit against Royal Wootton Bassett.Cents had been out played in the first half against a ruthless Wootton side who took their chances when they had them whilst the home side made a lot of mistakes and looked disjointed.
The only bright side to the home sides display in the first half was that their lineout and in particular their scrum had their visitors under pressure for most of the Half.Cents were second best in the loose, however they moved the ball well at times but their handling let them down at crucial moments.Wootton had scored 3 first half tries with one converted and they looked well in control at the break and all the home side had to offer for their efforts was a penalty converted by Shay Morgan.
With the turn round the Cents supporters had visions of their side going down to a large defeat, however the home side found another gear and through their forwards they blew the away side off the pitch with a superb display of attacking rugby.Cents stepped up their tempo and their visitors had no answer to the home sides forward power plus the swift handling of their backs.Cents scored 33 unanswered points through four tries, one penalty try and three conversions and the tries were scored by Tim Willcox,Sam Preece,Sol Farrer plus Craig ballinger.Shay Morgan scored the conversions.
Cents gave starting debuts to Ashley Kocerhan(from Gordon League),Tim Willcox(from Dursley) and Sol Farrer(from Painswick). Also making their debuts from the bench were Jack Rowe(Dursley) plus Ben Preece rejoining the club from a stint of living in France. In fact there was five members of the Precce family in the Cents match day squad perhaps a record for a local club.
All in all a good day for Cents who can be very pleased with their second half display especially as they were with out nine potential first team players who were unavailable for one reason or another. The players that played today should have put a lot of pressure on those not available and those missing might find it hard to find a starting place over the next few matches.
Todays visitors Wootton Bassett played their part in a very entertaining match and Cents wish them well for the rest of the season, also looking forward to playing them in the return match.
