Cents won a closely fought and entertaining match yesterday against a good Swindon side.Played in fine weather conditions both sides looked to move the ball around from anywhere on the pitch and there was plenty of fine attacking rugby with both sides defences at full stretch on many occasions. On this showing Swindon should not struggle like they did last season.
The match got off to a cracking start with both sides scoring converted tries in the first 10 minutes of the match with Cents scoring first through Alex Cox and Shay Morgan converting.Swindon went on to take the lead not long after when they scored another converted try and they lead until the 37th minute when Cents hit a purple patch scoring three tries within a short space of time.Cents scored tries through Tim Willcox plus Lewis May (2) and Shay Morgan converted one of the tries for an Half time score of 24-14 to the home side.
The first half had been played at such a pace it shot by with both sides looking to play good attacking rugby and the second half proved to be the same although both sides defences stepped up to the mark restricting the try scoring chances.
Cents increased their lead a few minutes into the second half when Harry Preece converted a penalty for a score line of 27-14 to the home side.Swindon came back midway during the the half when they converted a try for a score line of 27-21 to the home side and the game could have gone either way because of the way both clubs were attacking each other.
However, with 10minutes remaining the home side settled the match when Joe Preece scored a try which was converted by Harry Preece for a final score line of 34-21 to Cents.Cents still had to endure a few scary moments as Swindon went looking for a losing plus try bonus point.
This was a top quality match, and it was certainly enjoyed by the home side supporters being played in the right spirit by both sides.Swindon can take a lot of credit from the way they played and Cents had to be on top of their game to win.Cents wish Swindon all the best for the rest of the season and if they play like they did today they will cause a lot of problems for the rest of the teams in our League.
For Cents this was a good display by yet another changed side from the week before, there was another six changes to the side that started last week plus two on the bench.Cents had at least 10 potential first team squad members not available for one reason or another, very frustrating for our coaching staff.
