Cents win with last attack of the match.

Cents beat Marlow on Saturday after a very hard fought match and the away side were the better side on the day.Marlow's performance against a free scoring Old Cents when at home did not reflect the away side's plight at the foot of the table.Marlow were by far the better side on the day and the away side must be wondering what they have to do for a win after being beaten by a bit of brilliance at the end of the match.Cents were second best in most things on the day and it was perhaps their worst display of the season especially at home where they have been very good.

Marlow set their stall out early in the game, they were the first to score with an unconverted try and went on dominate the half securing most of the ball starving Cents of any good ball.Cents defence was good again and needed to be as they struggled to get any decent ball and what ball they did get they wasted through aimless kicks and charge downs.
When Cents did get some ball they took the match to Marlow and they had to defend well but this pressure was not often enough.During one spell in the Marlow 22 Cents did manage to score an unconverted try by Dan Hayes score 5-5,however just before half time Marlow scored a converted try to lead 5-12 at the break and this was no more than they deserved.

The second half was much the same as the first with Marlow's compact game plan starving Cents of any good quality ball and what ball the home side did get they did not use it very well. However, Cents did reduce the Marlow lead 10 minutes into the second half when Shay Morgan converted a penalty score 8-12 to the visitors with 30 minutes left to play.Try as they might Cents could not get a grip on the match and they had to defend some resolute attacks from Marlow looking for their first win of the season.

With the game almost up and the Cents supporters thinking the match was lost, up steps Alex Cox to produce a moment of brilliance to win the game for the home side .Standing in at full back for the day Alex fielded a stray kick into the Cents 22 and then went on to run the length of the field to score under the posts giving several dummies and side steps on the way.Shay Morgan converted the score for a final score line of 15-12 to the home side and Cents knew they had got out jail thanks to Alex's magic.

Marlow were left wondering what they have to do for a win after such a great performance from their team and it can only be a matter of time before they pick up their first victory of the season. For Cents they knew they had not played well and they now have a week off to regroup and hope they can get some more squad members available for selection.
