OLD CENTS WIN 27-3

Old Centralians kept their winning record at home intact this week with a fine win against Burnham on Sea.
Playing up the slope in the first half and against the wind Cents kept hold of the ball for most of the half and also had good territory but Burnham kept them from scoring with some fine defence.
In fact they were well in control of their own ball in the lineouts and dominated the scrums but Cents defence was also strong and were never really threatend.
Burnhams hard work did get them a penalty after 20 mins of rugby where it was a stale mate.
After 30 mins on the clock and Cents down by 3 points they made a tactical change by bringing on Sott Fritchley at prop who has just came back from injury and playing only his second game.
He came on for a scrum 15m out and made an immediate impact by forcing their prop to pop out of the scrum and winning a Cents penalty where they kicked it into the corner for a lineout.
From a driving maul prop Sam preece touched down to give him 3 try's in 3 games and Liam Hemming kicked a fine conversion from wide out.
5 minutes later Centre Hemming kicked a 40m penalty to give Cents a 10-3 lead at half time.
The second half Cents took control of the game but theycould not finnish of any moves due to small mistakes. Both sides had a frustrating day by not being able to make any more than two phases of play forcing the ref to use his whistle more than he needed to.
10 minutes gone into the second half Hemming kicked another penalty to give Cents a safe lead 13-3.
With 15 minutes left Rob Pinkney crashed over from a 5m scrum with Hemming Converting and with Cents looking like they were going to win a close game Scrumhalf Dave Knight came off for Craig Anderson who got into his role striaght away by feeding good ball to the backline in which Fly Half Rich Pinkney made one of his usually searing breaks to score and Hemming again kicked the conversion which sealed the game.
Cents then played out the game by running the ball as much as they could and find that all important bonus point in which they were so close but the final pass didn't go to hand giving them a 27-3 win.
All credit to Burnham who gave Cents a tough game and made life difficult throughout the whole 80 minutes.
Coach Jack Preece said "It was a good defencesive display but we struggled to put any phases together. We have a big game next week away to league leaders Chard and will need to get every part of our game right for this clash and we will be working hard to do this in training.
The good news is we had no injury's and we should have a full squad to choose from for this game".
