Cents kept up the pressure for the play off spot with a big win on the road at Barton Hill.With three games to go Chard remain favourites to win the automatic promotion place after a big win over Keynsham yesterday.
Cents went to Barton Hill yesterday knowing that the home side could provide a stiff test for their young side.Cents cause was not helped by changes made to the side because of injury and unavailabilty.However Cents came away with a desreved victory based on a commanding performance by their young pack who dominated the set pieces througout the match.
At half time Cents led 14-18 and everything was still in the melting pot as far as Cents were concerned.However after a couple of changes to their side,Cents went on to brush Barton Hill away after the home side threatened to cause an upset.Cents scored 25 unanswered points in the last 30 mins to ease to an important win away from home at a place where it is always hard to come away with anything.
In all Cents scored 5 tries through Joe Preece,Rich Pinkney(2),Rob Jones(jnr) and Michael Mumford.Mumford's try was a credit to Cents power in the scrum because it was a push over try.Liam Hemming completed Cents scoring with 4 penalties and 3 conversions.
Cents man of the match went to no8 Rich Pinkney who went to fly half after an injury to Ryan Townsend and gave a polished performance to seal Cents victory.However credit must also go to the Cents pack who gave a good account of themselves against a big Barton Hill eight.
Cents next match is wednesday night when they begin their quest for the Combination cup.Cents are at Longlevens and the kick off time is 6.00pm.
