Cents return to the Stade de Bridge was over shadowed by a serious leg break to a visiting Bulls side.Cents have not played at their home pitch since the start of the season because of the bad state it was in caused by the summer hot spell.
In the first three minutes visiting Centre Jimmy Manley sustained a bad leg break following a tackle and it took around 40 minutes for him to be taken to hospital. All at Cents wish him a speedy recovery.
Despite this set back both sides which were under strength produced a high quality fast tempo match that until the closing stages could have gone either way.Cents scored first when a move started deep in their half saw winger Ross Hannaford complete a flowing move and this try went unconverted.Score 5-0 to the home side and it stayed this way until Centre Rob Winchle seized upon a loose Bulls pass to intercept and run form his own 22.This try was in the last minute of the half and Cents went in 10-0 in front as it was not converted.
The first half had been an all action affair with both sides throwing the ball around with chances few and far between because both sides defences were on top.Cents scrum, lineout and loose play was on top form and needed to be because the Bulls had come to play.
The second half went much the same way as the first but for the first 30 minutes Banbury were on top but could not find a way to score a try as the Cents defence was resolute. For all their efforts the Bulls only had two converted penalties to show for all their pressure and going into the last 10 minutes the score was 10-6 to the home side.
In the last ten minutes Cents secured a bit more ball and made their visitors pay for not making more of all their pressure. The home side scored two tries in quick succession to secure a bonus point win that did not look on the cards 10 miniutes earlier. Cents try scorers were Owen Chandler plus Craig Ballinger and one of the tries was converted by Wayne Mulhern.
Cents were happy with this latest win following a thrashing at Wimborne last week and it was a much improved performance by another changed side.Next week is a rest week for the firsts and they need to regroup and hopefully Cents can move forward plus start to pick their strongest side.
