Late penalty gives Cents victory at Trowbridge.

Cents were made to work hard for their latest victory against a very good and well organised Trowbridge side.Cents knew they would be in for a hard match as Trowbridge have had some god results against the top teams lately plus they had run their visitors today, to a close game at the Stade de Bridge earlier in the season.
Cents also had to contend with a burst tyre to their coach on the way to Trowbridge and this meant they arrived late and the kick off was put back to 3.15pm.It was a good job Trowbridge had flood lights or else the game would not have been played and Cents must give a big thank you to their hosts for their co-operation in allowing the match to kick off late.
Although a low scoring match, this was a great match to watch with both sides giving their all, with play going from end to end and it was also played at a very high tempo as well.Players from both sides put their bodies on the line with big hits by the defences all over the field and despite this the match was played in the right spirit.

Cents raced into a 0-14 lead inside the first ten minutes with tries from Lewis May and Ross Hannaford with Wayne Mulhern converting both tries. However by half time Trowbridge had clawed the score line back to 12-14 and this score line reflected how tight the match was between two evenly matched sides. Both sides had created other chances but were unable to finish off promising moves and generally both defences were on top as throughout the match.

The second half was again a close affair following the same pattern as the firsts and it was not until the closing stages that there was any further scoring. With both defences on top it was a couple of late penalties that decided the match.Trowbridge took the lead with about 10 mins to go in the match when they converted a penalty to make the score 15-14 to the home side. However, with five mins to go Cents went down the field and forced a penalty of their own in front of the hosts posts.Wayne Mulhern converted the penalty for a score line of 17-15 to Cents and they had to endure a late spell of pressure to secure victory.

This was a well earned victory against strong opponents in Trowbridge and it's amazing to see that they are fourth from bottom in the league with such a display given today. With the team they have they should pull away from their current position as soon as possible.Cents continued their current unbeaten run and showed a lot of character today in victory and they now look forward Wimborne at home next weekend.Cents lost heavily at Wimborne earlier in the season so they will have a score to settle from that loss.
