Cents kept the pressure on Banbury plus Marlborough for the play off place in the league with a big win against a hard working Witney side who look destined for relegation.Witney put up a brave fight in their quest to avoid the drop as they had a good amount of possession in the match but could not translate this into points.Cents defence was also strong as well and they were deadly in their finishing a major difference between the two sides.
Cents scrum and lineout were very good and the backs looked sharp throughout the match and the only fault was that they were not clinical with their finishing at times as a few chances went begging during the game.
Cents had their bonus point by half time where they led 33-14 and they had scored five tries through George Bvuma(2),Rob Winchle,Ross Hannaford and Ryan Townsend.Wayne Mulhern had converted four of the tries and Witney had scored two converted tries of their own, just reward for their efforts in taking their game to Cents.
Like the first half Cents dominated all aspects of play in the second half and Witney kept plugging away to little reward for all their efforts.Cents scored a further four tries in the second half through Lewis May(2),George Bvuma(third) and Ross Hannaford(second).Wayne Mulhern converted three of the tries and the final score was 59-14 to Cents.
This was a good team performance by Cents and they will need to keep up this high standard of performance because next week they play Oxford Harlequins at home another hard working side.Earlier in the season Cents had a close fought win in Oxford and last season the Quins did the double over Cents. This will be an intriguing match and Cents will be aware of the threat Quins could pose and the home side will not treat them lightly in the run up for the end of the season.
