Cents travelled to Banbury, the league leaders with a much changed side from recent weekends and came away with a most unexpected win.
Cents were missing the likes of club capt.Sam Preece,Rob Winchle,Ross Hannaford,Rob Jones plus Charles Lichenstein and were not expected to come away with a win when Banbury were in such fine form being unbeaten so far this season.
This latest win shows Cents are in a good position at the moment with their latest signings of James Edwards,Dan Tyler,Sam Pooley and Max Whelan stepping up to the mark and showing the club has strength in depth. Also the return of Kieran Blackmore and Harry Preece from very long term injury has added to the strength of the first team squad.
Cents played well in earning a try scoring bonus point with a fine 36-14 win at a ground Cents have not been very lucky at over the last two seasons. In all Cents scored five tries through Kieran Blackmore,Michael Mathers,Dan Tyler,Sam Pooley plus a penalty try.Harry Preece completed Cents scoring with three conversions plus a penalty.Old Cents pack were superb in all aspects of play denying Banbury any possession to work from and they were backed up by their backs who tackled well and ran some good lines to score some good tries.
Cents selectors will have a hard time picking their side for next Saturday's visit of Buckingham RFC who I think have never been to the Bridge before.Buckingham will not be an easy side to play against judging by their good home win over Marlborough at the weekend and they will not be taken lightly as the home side know what its like to be the underdogs.
