Cents were pushed all the way in their latest win by a hard working Chippenham side.Despite the bad weather conditions both sides to their credit played an open game that had its fair share of handling mistakes by both sides due the slippery ball.Chippenham had their fair share of the ball but the Cents defence was too strong for them to break down and again the main difference was the home sides cutting edge in attack when it matter.
Cents were 10-0 up in side the opening 10 minutes and it stayed this way until the break despite the best efforts of both sides to add to the score and Cents only try was scored by Jack Rowe with Harry Preece adding the conversion plus a penalty.Despite the low score line there had been plenty of action by both sides who wanted to play a positive game.
The second half was more or less the same as the first with plenty of commitment shown by both sides who tried to play an open games despite the wet conditions.Cents scored early in the second half when Luke Jones showed his awareness on the Chippenham line when the away side won a scrum on their line and made a meal of it going back after a strong surge by the Cents forwards.Harry Preece converted the try and Cents led 17-0 and the score stayed this way until the drama with five minutes remaining.
Going into the final 5 minutes it did not look as if Cents would get a bonus point win, however the home side were awarded a penalty try with five minutes to go and on the last play of the game a sweeping attack form deep in their own half led to Wayne Mulhern finishing off a splendid team try.The try went unconverted and Cents had won 29-0 and got their bonus point win.
Cents were well worth their win but Chippenham had pushed them all the way and showed a lot of commitment plus spirit in defeat.Cents now move on to Marlborough away next week,a tough encounter is expected as our two sides fought out two closely fought matches last season with Cents winning both matches at the end of each game.
