Cents entertained a strong Windsor side on saturday and came away with a powerful victory over potentially dangerous opponents.
Cents viewed Windsor as a dangerous opponent based on the fact that they were one of the form teams of the league after a string of useful victories moved them up the table recently.
Although Cents beat Windsor fairly heavily away at the start of the season, the home side knew that they could be in for a closer game this time round because on that day everything clicked for the home side in london.
Cents knew they had to up their game from last week's performance against Cheltenham where they appeared sluggish and had too many errors creep into their play.To be fair this was a much improved performance but their was still room for improvement in the execution of try scoring chances.
Windsor came to play and were not afraid to move the ball around and this led to an open and end to end match played at a fair old pace. However cents had too much fire power for the hard working Windsor side. The home sides forwards were on top throughout the match and the angles of running of the Cents backs had Windsor on the back foot for most of the game.
Cents started off well by scoring two tries by Sam Preece from catch and drive situations but Windsor scored a try when the Cents defence went to sleep from a Penalty that missed the uprights and one of their players followed up the kick whilst Cents were thinking what to do.The try was converted and Cents led 10-7 after the first quarter.
Cents had their bonus point by half time when they scored further tries from Capt Pete Willetts,Lewis May and Rob Jones. All the tries were well crafted with good interplay between forwards and backs to create the scores.Only one try was converted by Connor Gwilliam for an half time score of 27-7 to the home side.
The half time score reflected the homes sides dominance of the match against an hard working Windsor side who tried hard to get into the match.
Playing down the slope in the second half,Cents continued to have the upper hand in all aspects of the match and scored a further four tries to wrap up a comprehensive victory.Cents scored their tries through Richard Pinkney(2),Liam Hemming and Dale Cookwest.Only one of the tries was converted by Connor Gwilliam to complete the home sides scoring. In fact only two tries were converted out of nine tries scored,Cents only bleamish on the day was the place kicking of their kickers.
For their hard working display and efforts Windsor did manage to score a well worked unconverted try of their own to complete the days scoring.
Cents now move onto next weeks local derby against Coney Hill and they go into the match in good shape The Stade de Bridge pitch looked in good shape for this time of year and provided we remain Rain free the surface should be good for our style of running rugby.
The Old Cents man of the match went to all action man hooker Nathan Stroud and he was closely followed by Ryan Garrott and Dale Cookwest.
