Cents made to work hard for firs thome wn

Cents finally won their first home league win of the season with a hard fought victory over visitors Okehampton who were making their first ever visit to the Stade de bridge.
Cents were made to work hard by an Okehampton side who played in a similar style as the home side and this resulted in an open and entertaining match enjoyed by the spectators.
Okehampton were the first to score in the first few minutes and this signalled their intent to play a fast open match, the visitors scored a converted try to lead 7-0.Cents responded almost straight away with a converted try by Ross Hannaford and this also came about from a sweeping end to end period of play just like Okehampton's first try.
Both sides continued to attack from every where, however it was Cents who gained the upper hand scoring two converted tries through Mike Mathers and a second by Ross Hannaford, both tries converted by Harry Preece along with first Cents try as well.Going into the final 10 minutes of the half Cents led 21-7 and seemingly well on top, However things changed when Sam Preece was sent off for an act of foul play just before half time and this changed to complexion of the match.
For the rest of the match Cents spent it on the back foot defending resolutely from constant attacks from an Okehampton side who threw everything at a tiring Old Cents side by the end of the match.Cents defence was outstanding and apart from a few lapses they held on for a win.Okehampton did manage to score two converted tries, one either side of a Penalty try on one Cents rare chances in their visitors half.Final score 28-21 and Cents managed to get their all important first home win of the season
Coaches Winchle and Brown were more than pleased with their first home league win of the season built on a solid defensive effort by the team.Cents next match is away at Launceston who are near neighbours of Okehampton and it is hoped that the weeks lay off will hopefully
mean more squad players become available for selection as once again their was a number of changes to this weeks team from last weeks winat Ivybridge.
