1st's well beaten and 2nd's start season with a win

Old Cents were well beaten by a fit and clinical Exeter University side at home yesterday and this was Cents largest loss for a number of years.Cents had no answer to a student side who were quicker in thought and action as they attacked from everywhere and pounced on every mistake the home side made.Cents battled throughout the match and took the game to their visitors but in the end they had no answer to their pace and power.
Cents were 3-36 down at half time and their only points in the half came from a penalty converted by Harry Preece,Cents had their moments but when play broke down in the students 22, they broke away with speed and turned pressure into points at the other end.It was similar in the second half with Cents having periods of pressure with play breaking down and the students scoring at the other end.Cents did however manager to score a try for all their earned efforts when Alex Cox scored after 70 minutes and this was converted by Harry Preece.Final score 10-66 to Exeter University.
Coaches Winchle and Brown were disappointed with manner of the defeat but were full of praise for the way the Cents battled to the end.Next week the First's are away at Exmouth and the team should be able to pick from a larger number of players being available as a number were not available this weekend.
