Hedley's funeral service will take place at Park Wood Crematorium, Elland on Friday 17th September at 9:45.

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Hedley Helliwell, a former player and lifelong supporter of Old Crossleyans RUFC, passed away peacefully on Friday 27th August aged 92.

Hedley in his playing days was a speedy winger who held the club try scoring record for a while and was a member of the victorious Yorkshire Shield winning side in 1956.

Many of you will remember him from his days as owner of Kays Cafe in King Cross, a venue for workmen taking a break or sales representatives with few appointments, you were always ensure of a warm welcome and a lively debate
