OLs colts hosted Old Laurents at the crofts in the Warwickshire cup semi final . OLs flew out of the blocks with an early score - Lewis Mellor took the ball on the crash and made good ground , the OLs pack were quickly in support and recycled the ball and with a quick pick and go George Duffy dotted down under the post , Will Davies converts 7-0 to OLs . All the possession was the home team in the early exchanges and it was not long before OLs scored again via some quick hands which allowed Dom Wolvine to score out wide , 12-0 to OLs . Old Laurents struggled to get any foot hold in the game and OLs increased their lead with a well taken try by Will Davies who then converted his own try , 17-0 to OLs . Some technical errors at the breakdown gave OLd Laurents a series of penalties , of which two were converted into points , 19-6 to OLs at the break .
The OLs coaches ring the changes and replace several players with quality off the bench . Again it is OLs who are in the ascendancy and a super run from Archie Semple gives Ed Righton a sight of the line which is all he needs to score wide of the posts , 24-9 to OLs . The second half then gets a little scrappy with numerous penalties and breaks in play , Ed Righton receives a yellow being off his feet and OLs are down to 14 . Then its Old Laurents who are down to 14 after Alex Evans is tackled around the neck . The game turns a little feisty as Old Laurents cannot find a way to gather any pressure or territory . This frustration spills over and the Old Laurents No 8 illegally pile drives Ed Righton off the back of a maul , the referee misses the action and Ed is stretchered off . However it is OLs who have the last laugh with a well taken try , scored by a fine run from Sam Maunder to end the game , 29-9 .
A brilliant win for the boys , a second cup final in two years ! Bring on Broadstreet in the final on15th March at the Butts .
