The match will be played at the Slant (otherwise known as Cookridge Lane LS16 7ND) and kicks off at 3pm. This is a big day for the club. Try to get there early so you have enough time to get your drinks in from the clubhouse before KO.

The Opponents

An unknown quantity. I'm happy to be corrected if i'm wrong but I don't think our first team has ever played them before. Anyone who played for our second team a few years back will remember having some good battles with them when they were still part of the merit league system but they're probably an altogether different outfit now.

Last season (which was actually 19/20) they finished 5th in their side of the league, narrowly missing out on a place in the Y4 Premier. They then won 3 out of 4 in the Yorkshire Shield before the first lockdown.

How are we looking

Training has been good and we're excited about the season ahead. We're missing a couple of players on Saturday but we're looking forward to seeing some of our debutants who have already made a big impact. As always at home, crowd support will be a big factor, so we're hoping to see big numbers on the sidelines.

Every game matters

The league system is created in a way where every game matters, especially early on. When the league splits, you carry the points forward that you gained against the teams who go into the same side of the draw. We found last time around that you can be out of it before the split if you don't pick up the results you need against the teams around you.
