Burnt Ash 7's 0-0 Old Williamsonians 5's

OWs put out a very strong side and confidence was high for another win. With injured captain Al encouraging from the sidelines, OWs pressed from the outset. Attacks were coming from all angles, left, right and middle, however no-one could unlock the Burnt Ash defence. Shots came in from Harvey, Hilton and Hatton and were either wide, saved or blocked, but pressure continued.

Play was halted for a few minutes when young Dann was bundled over just outside the D and required medical attention with fears of a dislocated shoulder. Luckily, later analysis has proved this not to be the case and the whole of OWs wishes George a speedy recovery. With the umpires ineptitude and unwillingness to award any "feet", for which there were many, nothing was given for this savage attack on Dann, and the game continued. Burnt Ash attacks were few and far between and were all snuffed out by the defensive qualities of Routledge, O'Shea, Hatton jnr and Hatton the even more jnr.

The game should have been dead and buried by half time, but despite constant pressure and a change of formation in the second half OWs were unable to score a goal, and had it not been for Thompson's concentration in goal we could have left without a point. All in all, this was a very good point earned by the opposition, but a point was gained for OWs, so hurrah.

Line Up

Oscar Thompson, Jamie O'Shea, Dave Routledge, Tom Hatton, Josh Hatton, Mick Hilton, Mick O'Shea, Mark Baldwin, Tommy McGrath, Dean Harvey (c), George Dann and Matthieu Martin
