As a club, we will not tolerate any abuse of match officials of any kind from players, club members and supporters.

Dear all,

We thank all players, committee members, VPs, friends and supporters for your continued support.

We are committed to ensuring that match days are enjoyable experiences for all involved, and as such invite you to remind yourself of the club's code of conduct and in particualr our Match Officials/Referee Respect Policy:

OWRFC has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to unacceptable behaviours towards match officials. It is essential that all players and spectators respect the referee’s decisions at all times.

Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are what make the game special for those who enjoy the environment and culture they create. We all have a responsibility to uphold these core values and to challenge poor behaviour when we see or hear it.

Specifically but not limited to, the following behaviours are not permitted;

  1. Verbally questioning a referee's decision from the touchline throughout a game is unacceptable.
  2. Haranguing/harassing the referee into decisions is unacceptable.
  3. Approaching the referee, unless invited to do so, is unacceptable.
  4. Verbally abusing, swearing and making physical contact with a referee is unacceptable.

We respect our match officials and accept their decisions. They define the game

If you hear inappropriate comments aimed at the referee. Please call them out or let one of the committee know, and we will take action.

Let's work together to ensure OWRFC is a fantastic environment on and off the field for all players, supporters and officials, regardless of the shirt they wear.

Your support is always appreciated and means a lot to us!
