The Old Boys narrowly lost a thrilling encounter with the Law Society on Saturday. Moments before half time they were nineteen points adrift but left themselves too much to do in the second half , finally going down by the odd point in seventy-three. It was small compensation for losing another winnable match to have secured a four try bonus point and a losing bonus point.

A further seven team changes this week , following last week's six , caused by erratic availability and injury does not help the gelling process and it may be this that forced the side to take so long to get into the game. After a promising start , when Jason Murphy scored out on the right following a good old boy line move , it was over half an hour before the home side could add more points to the scoreboard , Murphy adding a penalty goal. In the meantime, the visitors added twenty-four unanswered points from two converted tries and two not converted. Playing some purposeful and
accurate rugby two of the tries came from penalties kicked for lineout position with catch and drive over. On the stroke of half time a solo effort from No. 10 Lewis Taylor brought him a try under the posts which Murphy converted.

With a twelve point deficit to counter, the old boys started the second half brightly and with more resolve. As the Law Society began to tire the home side came much more into the game. Andy
Feeney and Kevin Mosengo were more prominent and Joe Bell secured more lineout ball. Andy Brown made several darting runs and with James Howell giving out quick ball the backs looked more dangerous. Tries from Richard Travers and a second each from Murphy and Taylor , each converted gave the home side a chance. However , the Law Society had enough energy left to add two more unconverted tries of their own to just prevent the home team from snatching an unlikely victory.

Next Saturday's game against Old Georgians is a massive must win game ; the full 1st XV team will be needed. The venue will be Coombe Lane at Old Georgians request.
