Old Wimbledonians 0 - 29 Chipstead

The Old Boys' impressive cup run to the area final of the RFU National Vase competition came to an end on Saturday with defeat to an up-for-it Chipstead team. Good luck in the next round
On the day the visitors were more focussed on getting the win and gave an axcellent all round performance. Their forwards won the tight battle, where Jordan Hawthorn showed great courage in competing for eighty minutes against a strong and experienced opposing loose-head prop. This will have been a more than useful learning experience for the just out of school tyro prop.
Jack Duggan, Alex Moulton and Nick Hulat competed well at the lineout, although the late call-off of Joe Bell was seriously felt. Richard Travers got the ball away tidily from the base of the scrum with some assistance from No 8 Nick Hulat. However the backs in general did not have their happiest day being constantly harassed by the Chipstead rush defence. Sadly, there were possible season ending injuries to full back Jay Tabb, centre Jason Murphy and hooker Rory Forward which means we will all have to pull together to ensure our survival in Surrey 1!
