Match report

Old Windsor moved away from league action with a Berks and Bucks tie against fellow East Berks Premier team Langley Reserves. Despite Langley’s poor form this was always likely to be a difficult game with Langley bringing in new players and management during the week, and having some first team players that didn’t play in the senior competition from the week before.

Old Windsor were able to welcome back into the starting line-up Nick Bolding and Josh who came in to make his Old Windsor debut. The squad also saw new(ish) signing Sam Abbott who started on the bench.

OW started this game much the better team with Langley unable to get out of their half, and OW playing some nice football. It was clear that down the wings was where OW were going to hurt Langley,

OW first goal came on 10 minutes, Sean chased down the ball and managed to nick it from the defender, he passed it to Brad who found Ben and he fished superbly from 20 yards. That settled us down and for the next 15 minutes we were unplayable. on 15 minutes Scouse intercepted at left back and drove forward, he found Sean who played it wide to Ben who crossed and Sean tapped in. 3 minutes later it was 3, a long throw in by Josh found James who bundled it in. Then the unfortunate injury to Josh held the game up for 5minutes, good luck in your recovery, took the edge of our play and whilst the Langle centre forward accused some problems there was no serious threats. Right on half time Ben got his second after some great interplay between Scouse, James, Nick and Ben ended up with a good finish form the edge of the box.

4-0 at half time it was hard to keep the lads going, Langley pulled one back on the hour but never really threatened and whilst OW pushed forward it was to slow and Langley managed to defend well. In the last minute there was another goal, this time a cross from James saw Trent score with a Crouch like header.

All in all a good result with pleasing aspects to our play, although injuries to Josh and Abbo took the shine of the match.
