Match report

Old Windsor win against Datchet village to progress in the county cup!!

Old Windsor kicked off their county cup campaign against an in form Datchet side who have made a flying start to their TVL division 2 campaign.

Talk before the game was ensuring we imposed ourselves on the game and play the game at a high tempo. The first 15 mins saw Datchet start the better working hard to close us down.

Old Windsor should of had two chances to score when both Luke and Lex were brought down in the area but the referee waved the appeals away.

A few early warning signs weren’t heeded and Dale was caught in possession and Barry Dunbar rounded Danny to slot home after 20 mins.

Old Windsor immediately replied, a great ball through from Joe found Nick Loates who eventually slotted home to level the scores.

This seemed to galvanise us and we slowly started to grow into the game and take control with Datchet looking dangerous on the counter attack.

Luke Hayes who was a growing influence on the game, turned the game on its head with a great turn and shot that was deflected that gave us a 2-1 lead going into half time.

The half time team talk was centred around us looking to play more football, with the pace we play the game we believed would slowly start to tell and they would tire.

Old Windsor started the second half well and we took control of the game. All of the team was working hard to force the pressure on Datchet to extend our lead.

The longer the game went on the influence of Luke grew and in truth he was unplayable at times with the Datchet fullback having a torrid time.

Harry made it 3-1 with a well taken free kick. And made it 4 later when finishing inside the keepers near post!!

The game finished 4-1 and should have been more. 7 out of 7 for the season so far and the confidence continues to grow! Plenty still to improve on but we move into November with plenty to play for.

Next up another home game against Iver Heath in the league. This will be a tough test as they look to come and end our winning run and kick start their season.

The attitude, work rate and commitment so far has been first class. There wasn’t a bad performance from our lads today and that bodes well going into the next month of fixtures.

Let’s keep the run going up the O’s!!!
