For the 1st time this season Old Windsor took on FC Beaconsfield, on this occasion it was the Norfolkian Cup and as holders it was one that we wanted to progress in. The game started well with us taking the lead after just 2 minutes when a Rory long throw was cleared but only as far as Brad who took two touches to find Harry who slotted past the keeper. Then nad 5 minutes score Beaconfield score two quickfire goals, the first a break down the left and the shot was fired past Stuart. The second was poor defending form a corner and the ball was not cleared and the shot found its way past Stuart via the post. Having problems down the left Lewis replaced Scouse and although this settled the ship the team did not look comfortable. There was few half chances which saw Nick and Maggsy fire over and Stuart having to make a good save. Then again on 30 minutes 2 quick fire goals saw Beaconsfield take a 4-1 lead. For both foals it was poor defending with Old Windsor unable to clear their lines and Beaconfield punishing them with some good finishing.
Russ got into the team at half time and how they responded, the deficit was back to two on 48 minutes when Lex was fouled and Harry scored the penalty. Old Windsor then piled on the pressure and but for some solid defending from Beaconsfield they would surely have scored more. As in these situations Beaconsfield looked lively on the break and had many half chances. Brad hit the bar on 75 minutes. The scoring was complete on 83 minutes when Harry lobbed the keeper and although there was another 10 minutes of pressure the equalizer would not come.
This was the ultimate game of two halfs but the first half from Old Windsor was not good enough and Beaconsfield done enough to get the result they wanted. Russ was disappointed with the 1st half but encouraged by the second half character and told the team that is what is required for the remainder of the season.
