It was a cold misty December’s morning when the unbeaten OMT army (pretty sure we were unbeaten at this stage of the campaign – oh no wait we f*cking lost to Cholms a few weeks before) took on the mighty Old Stoics in their first league clash of the season.
I’m not going to describe the details of the game as they are long gone now. All that needs to be said is that the first goal scored by OMT is probably going to be the goal of the season so far, if I say so myself. So to set the scene, it was fast approaching the half time whistle with the scores deadlocked at 0-0, when Paul ‘Speilberg’ Raschid made a beautiful pass from the left wing into the middle of the pitch, which was met by a full pace, fully hungover Kerins (standard). Kerins (aka Teeks/TK) took the ball into his stride effortlessly with a sublime touch onto his chest, a touch that managed to loop over the defender who was hot on his heels, and then delicately chipped the ball with the outside of his foot over the on-coming keeper into the goal off the underside of the bar. OMT were 1-0 up just before the half time break – great time to score! Kerins then managed to injure himself by a fouling one of the opponents running down the wing and subsequently had to come off. The free kick then resulted in the opponents scoring from a set piece, something OMT know too well.
