Report by Ralph Wainwright

Ossett Town kicked off and in the first minute Sanchez Payne sent a long ball to Danny Frost but Burgess in the Prescot goal read the situation well and gathered.

A minute later Anthony Mackie found Frost with a header in the Prescot goal area but the linesman's flag was up for offside.

The early pressure was coming from Town, Andy Hawksworth had a shot saved by Burgess and when they forced two successive corners Isaac Assenso headed just over the bar.

With Prescot missing leading marksman Doran from the side they were struggling the make any headway into the Town defence and when a good move on the right from the home side the ball found its way to Nicholson but Isaac Assenso was there to cover for Town.

Sanchez Payne tried his luck with a 30 yard shot which caused no problems for Burgess in goal for Cables.
A foul by Alex Peterson on McCulloch gave Prescot a free kick on half way With O'Reilly taking the kick Nicholson headed wide of the post.

A good cross from Johnstone on the left for Prescot went across the Town area and with nobody there to take advantage for the home side the ball went out for a goal kick.

A mix up in the Prescot defence gave Danny Frost a chance but his turn and shot was deflected for a corner from which the home side cleared.

A minute later Town were in front when inside the box a shot from Frost came back off the post and Anthony Mackie was there to follow up and make it 1-0.

A Dean cross for Prescot on the left was cleared by Brad Kilburn and when Johnstone's corner on the left went for a throw in on the opposite side Nicholson crossed but Chris Backhouse in goal collected comfortably.

The secnd half began with a foul by McCulloch on Town's Mackie on the half way line and when Sanchez Payne came away down the right his cross was cleared by O'Reilly for Prescot.

Town doubled their lead on 52 minutes a shot by Anthony Mackie was well saved by Burgess but Simon Rogers was in the right place to make it 2-0.

A Bannister free kick for Prescot was headed wide of the post by McCulloch, Town brought on Brown for Payne and with Prescot chasing the game they made 2 substitutions.

Bannister crossed from the right with Nicholson heading wide of goal for Prescot and Anthony Mackie who was having a fine game for Town was booked for a challenge on McCulloch.

A corner from Prescot was headed on by Edgar at the far post and ended with an O'Reilly shot going way over the bar.

Mackie for Town from 6 yards out had a shot well saved by Burgess in goal and when Mackie cleared a cross from Anthony Shinks Cables shout for handball in the box was rightly waved away by the referee.

On 84 minutes it was 3-0 to Town with the best goal of the game, Anthony Mackie's pass sent David Brown away down the right, Brown advanced and cut inside to fire past Burgess in goal.

Two minutes later Cables scored, a cross from the left from substitute Scarisbrick found Oliver Grundy who's firm shot found the back of the net. The goal spurred on Cables in the final minutes and Nicholson had a shot go wide of the post then in the dying seconds of time added on they almost scored again but with a scramble in the goal area Town managed to clear.

A massive win for Town and a good 90 minute performance, it's not over yet and we need the same again at Bamber Bridge on Tuesday.
