Town made the short journey of the pennines to Mossley on the back of a impressive victory on Tuesday against Tadcaster & started on the front foot. Ash Jackson and Leon Henry linked up early but failed test the keeper. Xander Mcburnie shot wide on 9mins when the ball fell to him on the edge the box. Town continued to create chances as they stretched the Mossley back four. Devonte Morton had the ball in the back of the net on 12mins but a linesman flag cut short his celebrations. Town continued to create opportunities and the deadlock was broken on 37 mins when a superb cross from the left was headed home by Devonte Morton from point blank range. Ossett felt hugely aggrieved on 42mins when Tyrone Gay looked to have been brought down when free in the box but instead of a spot kick a yellow card was produced for a bemused Gay.
The 2nd half started with Mossley pressing for the equaliser, danger man Tom Pratt had several good oppurtunies to bring the home team level, the of which was foiled when Darol Lucas made a superb recovery tackle to deny a certain goal. Roy Fogarty replaced Jack Steers on 54mins which saw Alex Peterson revert to centre half. Davonte Morton was causing the home defence no end of trouble with his pace and direct running and on 70mins a mazy run into the box ended with a slide rule pass across the box and Anthony Mackie provided the finish to make it 2-0 Town. Mossley continued to press and thought they had pulled a goal back but again the linesmans flag rule out the goal and as the temperature rose Mossley had John Bennett red carded for a stamp on Reece Farnhill.
An outstanding display from Town and deserved 3 points. Resolute defending, outstanding workmate and razor sharp in attack. A fully deserved 3 points for a rapidly improving Ossett Town. #UREDS
