Last season saw a spectacular opener from Jimmy Eyles, but after the dismissal of keeper Matt Convey, full back Luke Richardson took the gloves and despite an excellent performance between the sticks couldn’t prevent the home side from taking a 2-1 victory.

Just a few days later New Mills travelled to Ingfield where an excellent Eyles treble wasn’t enough as a last minute penalty from New Mills meant the score was 3-3.

Turning to today, Craig Elliott has told www.OssettTown.co.uk “we have a few injury concerns that we need to check when we get there today, it’s hard when you have two games in three days. It’s not a big turnaround for players to recover but of course it is the same for both clubs”.

Elliott is hoping striker Jimmy Eyles has recovered from tonsillitis and will be part of the squad as he says “This is probably on paper our hardest game so far, New Mills are a great team and another team who reached play offs last season they have signed a lot of quality players in the summer so I am fully expecting a difficult afternoon but these are the challenge we look forward to, to test ourselves against the best teams in this league”.
