Tigers left Frustrated

On a very frustrating afternoon, The Tigers lost for the first time in 56 weeks at home against a physical outfit from Castleford.

The afternoon started off good for the Tigers with Adam Newby scoring on 3 minutes with the ball been worked to a good platform and James Winstanley picking up the ball and find Newby who crashed over from 10m, Liam Ward slotted over to lead 6-0. Allerton who was constantly probing straight away hit back on 7min the back rower crashed over for a simple try after the stand off drew in 2 defenders and the line opened up for a try under posts 6-6.

The game was being played at a good tempo but penalties was creeping in for both teams and was being spoilt but then on 17mins a great solo effort from Arron Williams who broke the line from 50m shrugged off 2 defenders then another 3 covering defenders to score with Ward converting 12-6. 3 mins later Allerton hooker scored the 1st of his 2 tries both dive overs, which disappointed both players and supporters alike. 12-12

On 27 minutes Craig Colbeck took the ball to the line and chipped over for Liam Ward to out jump the defence who converted his own try, 18-12. Once again Allerton struck bac almost instantly on 32mins the hooker dived through his own player to score which infuriated the Tigers players and this was a pivotal point in the game. As the Tigers discipline went a rye.

Just before Adam Firth went down with a suspected neck injury but after 12 minutes regained feeling and was walked off the field to warm applause from both sets of players and supporters alike.

Straight after kick off Tigers went on the offensive and took the game to Allerton, Winstanley got the ball and stepped 2 players and off loaded to Callum Machin who scored off a lovely inside pass to dive over under the posts, Ward converted 24-18. The score stayed this way for 25 minutes, the only things to happen was penalty after penalty and this was shown by the supporters their dismay at the lack of fluidity of the game.

65mins and chip over for the winger to collect this angered the crowd as they felt he was offside, but the try was given and the 17 who was kicking slotted over to set up a tense finally, 24 all and time for more drama to unfold. on 69 minutes the referee decided to sin bin the 3rd Tigers player of the game as Ash Berry was punched in the face in front of the ref who decided no penalty and Berry angrily shouted at him and ended up standing in the bin.

71 minutes the strong back rower who had been putting himself about all game got his reward with a solo effort from 60m the kick was missed 24-28. Then on the way back to half way the Tigers who had been more and more frustrated was reacting angrily and the referee decided on 72 mins he had seen enough and called time, which was unfair as there was more then enough time for the Tigers to win it.

Coach Hagger "I am bitterly disappointed in the way the game was handled, when the referee is refusing to let my capt approach him it was always going to be a long afternoon. I am not condoning shouting at the ref but when you get 8 penalties in a row against you its hard at any level to keep composure. I do wish we had but it proves were a young developing side who I still back to the end. However we move on to Thursday against Crigglestone."
