Tigers back on winning path

After 3 successive defeats the Tigers was looking to bounce back unfortunately for them was, 2nd in the table Leeds outfit Queens was standing in front of them. It had all the potential to be a humdinger and neither team was likely to back down, and Tigers come out ready for the game in a good frame of mind.

Tigers controlled the game from the off set and kept completing to put Queens on the back foot. With the ball been shipped around the Tigers was playing great rugby and on 10 minutes the dead lock was broken. Casey Johnson back in the line up at stand off was pulling strings on the right with Scott Lee doing the left, however it was the former who put out a nice pass to Adam Firth who finally backed him self and went round his winger to dive in the corner, Johnson missed the kick but the tone was set. Tigers 4-0.

The game ebbed and flowed with both teams throwing their weight around, the young Queens outfit kept coming and was sometimes over zealous in defence and this proved the case for Tigers 2nd try. Big Danny Pickles come steaming onto a drive however the Queens defence shot to him and Mick Dyson using his experience saw the movement and saw the gap to dive over, Johnson missed kick but Tigers was being dominant 8-0.

Tigers kept probing and wet close a few times with Johnson and Lee pulling the strings and backed up finely by Josh Machin who was livly as always around the ruck. The Tigers pack was rolling the Queens side time and time again with big props Anton Porter and Danny Pickles making direct runs with Matthew West choosing his lines perfectly and making great in roads into the Leeds tiring side. Newly appointed vice captain Callum Machin and his second row partner George Stott proving a handful repeated finding their fronts and making quick play the balls.

H/T Tigers 8 Queens 0

The 2nd half start and stayed much the same with the Tigers dominating and playing some fast flowing rugby. James Winstanley was making some good yards down the right hand side filling in nicely for Stott, on 45minutes after chasing a kick down field Mick Dyson who was having a great game at full back deputising for Ash Berry went to tackle the attacker but fell awkwardly and hurt his shoulder this moving Stott to centre with Berry slotting back at full back. This appeared to be a master stroke a 2 minutes later Callum Machin and Stott run a great line and face pass to Stott he crashed over taking 2 defenders with him, Casey Johnson easily slotted over and after 47mins 14-0 to Tigers.

56 minutes Andrew Tillotson showed some wiley experience to show and go from acting half to score from close range. Conversion missed 18-0, 3 minutes later against the run of play Queens scored. From the kick off Queens went short from the kick off and gathered the ball and after 2 sets and a forward pass the full back went under the posts for a converted try 18-6.

The Tigers brushed themselves down and didn't let the detract their style of play and kept on attacking and putting Queens on the back foot constantly, then on 65mins Tillotson put a cross field kick in for Callum Machin to beat a few chases and the Leeds team defence to get himself a meat pie with Johnson slotting over 24-6.

Tigers was defiantly playing with their tails up and with J.Machin leading the Queens pack on merry-go-round with his probing and scooting and just generally being a nuisance, he then looked to his right and found Ash Berry in space and Off Berry went in the corner, Johnson narrowly missing 28-6.

The game was bubbling away and Queens was getting frustrated and making a lot of unforced errors Tigers kept pilling on the pressure and if not for some last ditch tackling or last pass going astray Queens was hanging on. But then on 79 mins Man of the Match Matthew West went through a gap and went 30m which put Ossett into the 20m zone after a couple of goes on the right West hit a line and danced in under the posts to score a well deserved try. Johnson put his foot through it and 34-6 was the score.

Coach Hagger " What a way to bounce back, the boys battled and I believe they completely out played Queens. Good to have some players back but I still look at what I had missing and think who is missing Captain Nick Mitchell (injured), Adam Newby who is away with Yorkshire and the Williams brothers Arron (unavailable) and Jordan (injured) just to name a few. However today is all about the 17 available that played absolutely outstanding and got an unbelievable win. I now cant wait for next week now in the away trip to Upton."

Man of Matches
