Massive Improvement shown

After a week of recruitment Tigers had a full compliment of 17 for the first time in a few games and it showed as Coach Hagger had the chance to rotate his forwards throughout the game. Tigers started the game in strong fashion by holding the travelling Underbank team in their own half for first 10 minutes, and it proved fruitful with full back Raz Chalkley diving over for a try which he duly converted himself.

So with the Tigers 6-0 and looking strong it took a good bit of rugby to undo them, Underbank worked the ball left and the centre drew in 2 men and slipped ball to the winger to score a unconverted try. With their tails up Underbank scored 2 more quick tries to make it 14-6 and the tigers looked out of it. Tigers then got a foot hold and sorted out their defence and started to lay as the started but Underbank scored again to make it 20-6.

Ossett came to life in last 10 mins of first half and scored a try through left centre Adam Firth which was converted again by Raz Chalkley, then with Ossett in the ascendency Anthony Lindsay got the ball and spotted the winger up in the defensive line and chipped to the corner for winger Liam Ward to chase the ball unchallenged to sore in the corner Raz Chalkley missed to conversion to make the half time score 22-16

2nd half was a solid battle of amateur rugby league, Ossett took the game to Rangers and after 20 mins Tigers got their rewards with a crash over try from debutant Josh Fuller which RC converted to make it 22-22. Tigers kept plugging away but couldn't find the end product and Underbank scored a break away try to make it 28-22. But your young valiant Tigers battle again keep Underbank don in their own 20 and forced a error, which after 3 tackles Back rower Arron Williams somehow managed to throw 2 defenders off and score in the corner which RC missed to make it 28-26 with 10 mins to go. Once again your Tigers through every thing at the away team but Underbank had a long kick down field which after a mix up resulted in a try in the corner which was unconverted to make the score 32-26.

This was a massive improvement on the recent weeks and if the Tigers stay together this could just be the turning point for the season, Next week your Tigers travel to Hunslet looking to do the double over a strong Leeds outfit. Hunslet gave their last fixture away so only time will tell, It was good to see such a big crowd down at Church street hope some of you can make it to Hunslet.
