Not our day

Ossett Trinity Tigers welcomed back young back rower Callum Machin from a 8 match ban, and big impact player Jack Bell who had been away on holiday named a very strong team for the visit of Sharlston Rovers. Tigers named half backs Anthony Lindsay and Wayne Hartley together for the 2nd week running and looked a more impressive outfit.

Once again for the 4th game in a row Ossett went into a 6-0 lead. After 15 mins Stuart McClennan was rested for Jack Bell and virtually straight away Jack had an impact after 3 close attempts on the rovers try line Wayne Hartley dropped Jack off who come storming on to the ball and crashed over at side of the post which left ever reliable goal kicker Liam Ward who slotted over for a 6-0 lead.

Tigers then seemed o melt down and referee punished them time after time for ripping ball and Rovers finally crashed over for unconverted try in the corner with the touch judge saying was in touch but the referee ignored the claim and awarded the 4 pointer, now with a slender 6-4 lead and this is how it stayed till half time.

In the 2nd half the referee didn't change his stance against the young tigers constantly punishing them for interference and on 60 mins Rovers who was trying score couldn't break the resolute defence and decided to kick a penalty o make it 6-6 and 2 mins later after a another penalty kicked another to make it 8-6.

On 65 mins after a well worked move was called back for a forward pass frustrated half back Wayne Hartley had some verbal's with the referee and was sin binned for 10 mins. This left Ossett with a mountain to climb and Sharlston cashed over in corner the kicker missed and with 5 mins left and the score 6-12. Hartley entered the fray. Ossett pressed for the try and was unlucky when young loose forward Nick Mitchell was taking ball up for a settle play had the ball ripped out and referee judged to have lost the ball, this gave Rovers the ball for the final set in their own 20m and they saw the set out for a 12-6 win.
