1. Otley Zebras

Every Player Counts

The Zebras are the junior section of Otley Rugby Club, and alongside our partners we are dedicated to bringing the sport of rugby union football to the young boys and girls of Otley and surrounding districts. We run age groups at every age group from U6 to U17.

Around 250 young people play their rugby at Otley and with over thirty years experience in junior rugby, and a large number of qualified coaches available at the club we have the heritage to provide the right level of training and competition to maximise the potential of every player.

A Rugby Pathway

At U6, U7 and U8 we play tag rugby, a safe and enjoyable non-contact version of the game with the emphasis very much on having fun. From U9's onwards we introduce the contact and technical skills required to play the full 15-a-side game at U13.

As our players get older we focus on long term athletic development, bringing in technical and fitness expertise, and through our Colts setup we offer a structured pathway from the junior rugby into the senior game.

Sport England Clubmark

We place the highest priority on our players safety and enjoyment, and Otley was one of the first clubs in Yorkshire to be awarded the Sport England Clubmark which gives the Seal of Approval on the club as safe, effective, child friendly and delivering a quality experience for players, referees and volunteers.

Fun for Parents Too!

Rugby has always been a social game, and at Otley we encourage you to join us at the clubhouse after training for food and drink and a chance to relax and have a good time with your friends. Individual age groups usually have their own social events, but we also run a number of bigger events during the year such as Annual Awards evening, BBQ's and quiz nights.Otley is a family club, and as you would expect we take every step to ensure that our children can play sport in an environment that is free from bullying, abuse, bad language and prejudice.

We aim to ensure that all people irrespective of their age, gender, ability, race, religion, ethnic origin, creed, colour, nationality social status or sexual orientation have a genuine and equal opportunity to participate in Rugby Union, at all levels and in all roles.

We have also implemented a Best Practice for all adults working with young people in the club, and all those that have regular supervisory contact with children or a management responsibility for those working with young people have undertaken an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.
