Saracens v Sheffield match was abandoned after 55 minutes due to a neck injury to a Sheffield player.

The visitors were winning 20-21, but Otley looked to be in the ascendancy. The match will be replayed later in the season. We wish Kirk Andrews a quick recovery - definitely not his day, arrived late having been in a road traffic accident en route!

Otley started well and forced an early penalty, which was slotted by Andy Taylor. Sheffield then got their pack going and scored two tries, the first from a poor clearance kick and the second a penalty try as they rumbled the scrum towards the Otley line.

Saracens replied with another penalty and then with tries of their own, one either side of half time. The first was finished by Danny Elliott after a good kick chase by Nick Keinhorst and the second by Charlie Maunder as the maul was driven over from a line out, which looked more secure than the scrum. Sheffield grabbed another try, before the game was brought to its premature end.

The welcome return of several players was encouraging, but also contributed to some lack of cohesion early on. Winger, Jameel Karim's outing was curtailed to only a fifteen minute cameo before he came off with a cut to his eye. Andy Taylor's return was more fruitful as he looked fit and eager, particularly strong in defence and made all his kicks to become Saracens leading points scorer for the season with 75.
Ben Fairclough initially looked a little rusty, but settled and launched some promising attacks. Three other players made their first Saracens appearance of the season, with James Matthews looking as spritely as ever despite playing out of postion. Arnie Ellison looked hungry for action, and looked a threat, and Nick Coupland also returned to the fray.

Latest update on Kirk Andrews from Sheffield is that nothing is broken, he is being released with a neck brace and his condition will be monitored. We wish him well.
