Moving to another club

Ryan Gibson

Ryan returns to his hometown club, Keighley, allowing him to spend more time closer to his grandad. A clinical finisher throughout his time at Otley, Ryan crossed for 15 tries in 67 appearances and was always a threat whenever he wore the black and white jersey.

Jason Moss

Few players have given as much to Otley RUFC as Jason Moss.

After almost 18 years of unwavering commitment, Mossie has made the difficult decision to join Morley, allowing him to spend more time with his young family and support his boys as they continue their football journey.

A true Otley man, Mossie embodied everything the club stands for. Week after week he gave everything for the badge, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, volunteers and supporters alike through his toughness, honesty and relentless commitment.

His influence stretches far beyond his remarkable 246 appearances. He has helped shape dressing rooms, mentored younger players and represented Otley RUFC with immense pride for nearly two decades. Players with Mossie’s loyalty, character and commitment are incredibly rare, and whilst we are naturally disappointed to see him leave, family always comes first.

Everyone at Otley RUFC thanks Mossie for everything he has given to the club. He leaves with our utmost respect and gratitude, and he and his family will always be welcome back at Cross Green.

Jacob Holmes

A hugely talented centre, Jacob now heads to Australia for his next adventure. His pace, attacking flair and ability to create something from nothing made him a joy to watch, scoring 17 tries in just 51 appearances.

Joe Potter

Having joined from Huddersfield, Joe now takes on an exciting opportunity with Sandal as a player-coach.

Joe was an outstanding decision-maker who consistently got our backs firing, bringing calmness, control and attacking intent whenever he took to the field. We thank Joe for his contribution and wish him every success in the next chapter of his playing and coaching career.

Tom Parnell

TP returns to Baildon as player/head coach, an opportunity that allows him to lead his own programme while continuing his playing career.

Alongside his contribution on the field, TP played a huge role away from rugby, helping raise valuable funds for the club and establishing Otley RUFC’s first senior Spanish tour. His energy, commitment and impact both on and off the pitch will be sorely missed, and we wish him every success in his new role.

Noah Greenald

Having completed his studies at Leeds Beckett University, Noah returns home to Ireland.

Joe Rowntree

Joe leaves Otley RUFC as one of the club’s outstanding servants of the modern era.

Across 151 appearances, Joe amassed an incredible 916 points, establishing himself as one of the most reliable and influential goal kickers in National League rugby. Time and again he stepped up in pressure moments, contributing countless match-winning kicks whilst representing the club with outstanding professionalism and commitment.

Joe now takes on an exciting player-coach opportunity with Harrogate Pythons, allowing him to play alongside his brother whilst being closer to his family.

Whilst we are naturally disappointed to see a player of Joe’s calibre move on, opportunities that bring family and rugby together are difficult to turn down. Joe departs with the gratitude and respect of everyone connected with Otley RUFC, and we thank him sincerely for everything he has contributed during his time at the club.

Taking a year away from rugby

Luca Foster

Luca will spend the next year studying in Germany and is hoping to once again represent the German Under-20s.

We wish Luca every success with his studies and look forward to hopefully welcoming him back to Otley RUFC in the future.

Dan Preston-Routledge

Dan now begins the next chapter of his rugby journey as Lead Forwards Coach at Baildon.

A fierce competitor and outstanding leader, Dan made a significant impact both on and off the field during his time at Otley. We thank him for everything he has given the club and wish him every success in coaching.

Sam Hodge

Every club has players whose moments become part of its history, and Sam’s unforgettable try against Sheffield will always be one of those memories.

Sam has been a wholehearted servant to Otley RUFC, scoring 12 tries across 79 appearances whilst giving absolutely everything every time he represented the club.

Everyone at Otley RUFC thanks Sam for his commitment over the years and wishes him a happy and well-earned retirement from playing.

Looking ahead

Whilst we say goodbye to a number of familiar faces, we do so with enormous gratitude for everything they have contributed to Otley RUFC. Every player leaves having played a part in our story and departs with our sincere thanks and best wishes for the future.

Rugby is constantly evolving, with careers, families, education and new opportunities taking players in different directions. At the same time, a huge amount of work has been taking place behind the scenes to build an exciting squad for the season ahead.

This Thursday marks our first players’ meeting ahead of the new season, and we are looking forward to bringing the group together for the first time. There is a genuine sense of excitement around what is being built, with a number of key players re-signing and several exciting new signings set to be announced over the coming weeks.

Thank you to all of our departing players for their commitment to Otley RUFC. We also thank our supporters for their continued backing and cannot wait to begin the next chapter together as preparations get underway for another exciting National 2 North campaign.
