

However, Otley were straight off the mark having kicked off, pressurizing the Hull line. They got a penalty after a high tackle, although Adam Malthouse went off injured after another tackle landing awkwardly. Fynlay Hobson stroked the ball through the posts after three minutes.
Having restarted the match, Hull got two scrums in the Otley 22. Otley briefly took them outside and in their next attack Tom Lineham was tackled into touch just before the corner post. Otley were able to get the ball out again but gave away a penalty scrum in front of the posts giving Reece Dean the chance to level the scores after 12 minutes, which he took.
Hull had the majority of possession and territory going into the second quarter and after Alec Renouf burst through into the Otley 22 only to be tackled, Charlie Beech was given the ball and made the remaining seven metres to score.
Straight after the resumption, a Hull player was then caught on the floor playing the ball, giving Otley the opportunity to go for the left-hand corner. Corey McCormack threw to his brother and the pack slowly grinded its way forward with Corey touching down to level the scores. The conversion attempt looked good but it wasn’t given.
The visitors continued to keep the pressure up and another high tackle by Hull saw Dan Green put the ball into the right-hand corner. This time Finn Warren-Lambert took the ball and once back on the ground, nearly all of the Otley backs joined the maul to steer Scott Irvine over the line. Hobson’s kick took the scoreboard to 8-15.
Hull came out for the second half with a renewed vigour, Dean reduced the deficit four minutes in when Otley were caught offside in their 22 defending their line. Otley continued to concede penalties, but were able to keep Hull at bay and finally got out of their half. A high tackle by Hull on their 10 metre line took Otley into the opposition 22 and the maul drove forward until Lineham ripped possession allowing the home side to get out of their half.
A short kick was knocked on by Otley just outside their 22, but they were redeemed when they got a penalty at the scrum. The ball was lost by Otley in the Hull half and Dean took control. He eventually got it to winger Jake Boardman who went down the left hand side throwing a speculative pass once in the Otley 22. A retreating Otley player couldn’t gather it and knocked it closer to the line and Dean finished the move by catching the ball and diving over to score. He then added the conversion to give the home side a three point lead.
Hull had the chance to extend their lead when their forwards tried to barge their way over the line, but were kept out by a solid Otley defence who started to push them back. As they did, Hull again played the ball on the ground relieving the pressure on Otley. Another penalty by Hull, this time in their half, took Otley into the opposition 22. From there they moved the ball into the centre getting another penalty before a no-arms off-the-ball tackle saw Jack Bergmanas go to the bin. Joe Rowntree’s kick brought the scores level again at 18-18.
The balance was short-lived. An Otley high tackle was held in abeyance until Hull knocked-on a metre from the line, Dean’s kick was successful just outside the Otley 22 with 12 minutes left. Otley met a high wall just inside the Hull 22, but were pushed back and then conceded a penalty mid-field. The remainder of the game was played in the Otley half, it ended when the visitors were caught offside in front of the posts – Dean getting his 19th point of the game.
