The Zebras broke into a gallop from the off with quick pace and ball sealing the victory for the Red team.

On a cold and windy Sunday morning the Zebras played host to Old Brods.
With the visitors lacking numbers it was down to the Red team to battle the Brods.
The first game commenced with Otley the first to strike, Seb Smith and Ben Beale linked up to create the mis-match carving a hole in the Brods defense and giving Smith his first score of the day.
Captain Freddie Hodnett and Harry Hickling were distributing good ball, which saw George Lunn run the overlap for a fine individual effort.
The Zebras were well on top in the first game but a lapse in concentration allowed the Brods to launch a comeback with two fine efforts crossing the line before the Zebras found their rhythm and ran in two more tries to seal the victory.
Final Score for game 1 Otley 11 Old Brods 7

After a quick break to re-fuel it was on with game two and the Zebras were off to a flying start, Finlay Carroll danced his way through the Brods defense to open the scoring, Henry Maughan, Ethan Timothy and Captain Freddie Hodnett controlling the centre ground, were calling in runners to attack the spaces allowing Iwan Lewis-Jones to score from deep. Dominic Tinsley made the left wing his own, with a number of fine runs and a memorable score from the halfway line. Otley crossed the line 7 times in the first half with the visitors taking 3 tries in reply.
The second half underway, Otley were quickly back into their stride with Ben Beale tearing down the wing and crossing the line first, Seb Smith screamed through for another and was only denied his hat trick by an untimely visit to the turf.
That ever present lapse in concentration allowed the Brods back in with two well-taken efforts from quick ball leaving the Zebras licking their wounds.
With the Brods showing signs of tiring the Zebras found another gear and again showed good work in attacking the spaces and working as a unit.
Seizing the advantage from a fumble, Jack McNamara ran in a fantastic long range try, starting deep in his own half he left everyone in his wake crossing the line to notch up another score for the Zebras.
Final Score for game 2 Otley 13 Old Brods 7

Well done to all the boys, a fine effort and great to see the things we work on in training starting to come to fruition.

Our thanks go out to Old Brods for two great games played and enjoyed by all.
